🥘 crockpot dog food recipe

Makes approx. 7 servings when mixed with dry food (for us, double even triple for smaller dogs).

🧾 Ingredients:

  • 2–3 lbs of meat (chicken breast, ground beef, turkey, or lamb – boneless and skinless)

  • 2 large beef marrow bones or knuckle bones (for nutrients and flavor – remove before serving)

  • 1 lb chicken or beef liver.

  • 2 large sweet potatoes, peeled and diced

  • 2 ½ to 3 cups water (just enough to cover the ingredients)

🍲 Instructions:

  1. Prep the Ingredients:

    • Dice the sweet potatoes.

    • Cut meat into chunks if not ground, optional.

  2. Layer in the Crockpot:

    • Place sweet potatoes at the bottom.

    • Add meat on top.

    • Place beef bones over the meat.

    • Pour in water to just cover the contents.

  3. Cook:

    • Set crockpot on High for 8 hours.

    • Optional: Stir halfway through to distribute.

  4. Cool & Finish:

    • Let cool completely.

    • Remove bones carefully – never serve cooked bones to dogs.

    • Shred or mash ingredients together.

  5. Serve & Store:

    • Mix with your dog’s dry food (roughly 25/75 or to your vet’s guidance).

    • Store portions in the fridge for up to 5 days, or freeze extras for up to 2 months.

✅ Notes:

  • No seasoning needed — dogs don’t need salt or spices!

  • You can add carrots, peas, or green beans for extra nutrients (optional).

  • Always consult your vet before changing your dog’s diet.

  • If your dog is new to real food, start with just a little and add more in slow increments over time.
